Filler Preparation 101: What you need to do before your filler appointment

Filler Preparation

Getting filler injections can be super exciting. You get to enhance your beauty and target some areas that may be giving you some insecurity. However, to get the best results, it is important to prepare properly for your filler appointment. As with all medical treatments, preparation and making sure your body is healthy as possible is key to the treatment’s success. Today, we are taking you through what should be a part of your filler preparation.

4-6 weeks before your filler appointment

Filler preparation starts over a month before your treatment. In the six weeks before your filler appointment takes place, it is important to avoid treatments that could affect the body’s ability to fight infection or reduce your body’s strength. This includes new tattoos, piercings, surgery  and the COVID vaccine. Additionally, in the four weeks prior to your appointment, it is important to avoid any other vaccinations.

1-2 weeks before your filler appointment

In the two weeks prior to your appointment, you are focusing on avoiding anything that could increase risk of infection to the treatment area. Make sure to stay healthy and avoid any colds or infections. This includes cold sores around the lip area. It is also recommended to avoid laser treatments in the region, any dental procedures (including cleaning), and any cosmetic treatments such as micro-needling. You should make sure not to take any antibiotics for at least 2 weeks before your appointment and make sure not to take any medicine/painkillers with a blood-thinning effect for a week prior to treatment.

On the day of the treatment

Finally, the day is here! Before coming in to the clinic, it is important to eat and drink well to avoid any dizziness or anything like that. It is also essential that you do not consume alcohol before or after your treatment.
