If you’re reading this, congratulations! You’re the owner of a brand new pair of fabulous lips. You did all the right things beforehand: no blood thinning drugs, plenty of water the day of and you made sure to keep healthy leading up to your appointment. Your dedication paid off and you couldn’t be happier with the result. However, post treatment care is just as, if not more important to make sure you stay happy with your new lips. Read on for a few handy hints to make sure you’re taking the best care of your lips after your lip injection!

HANDS OFF AFTER LIP INJECTIONS!

It’s very important to not touch or massage the injected area for the first two days after the treatment. Your highly qualified Cosmetic Doctor has injected the hyaluronic acid in very precise places and any excess movement could shift the product around and change your results, so let the product settle before you touch them!

Hydration is key!

Hyaluronic acid binds with water in the body to increase its volumizing effect, therefore it is very important to keep your fluids up while you’re recovering. We recommend drinking at least two litres of water a day to get the best possible results from your lip injection. Not only is this good for your new lips, but hydrated skin is smoother, softer and fuller; it’s a win win!

You’re hot then you’re cold

Make sure to avoid any foods that are too hot or too cold for at least 4 hours after your treatment. You don’t want the temperature changing at all! It’s a good idea to keep your injections as stable in temperature as possible, but it can be tempting to cool the area after an lip injection to stop pain and bruising. If you want to do this, make sure to use a cooling pad and not an ice pack. Make sure to only cool the area for 10 minutes at a time.

TELL YOUR BOYFRIEND SORRY…

… but you aren’t allowed to kiss anyone for 24 hours after your appointment. We know it’s not fun, but you don’t want to risk the product in your lips moving around. It’s not just kissing too: you shouldn’t put on lipstick or any kind of lip products for 24 hours for the same reason. Your lips are officially a no go zone for 24 hours, even though they look so kissable!
